Resin Fillings

Dental materials and techniques have greatly advanced over the years and we are now able to create more pleasing and natural-looking smiles. One of these advancements is composite or resin fillings. These types of fillings are a mixture of glass or quartz filler in a resin medium that produces a tooth-colored filling. The advantage to this type of restoration is that less tooth structure is removed when the dentist prepares the tooth also the esthetic look of the tooth is much more pleasing.

Amalgam fillings have been around for over a century and are still used in some cases. While questions have arisen about the safety of dental amalgam because of its mercury content, the major U.S. and international scientific and health bodies  are satisfied that dental amalgam is a safe, reliable and effective restorative material.
